The Helen Crise Memorial Life Membership

Helen Ann Henderhan Crise, Membership Number 03, was instrumental in founding the Conejo Valley Genealogical Society, Inc. She was on the Organizing Board of Directors and became the first to hold the office of Second Vice President, Ways and Means, at the time the Society was organized in October 1979. She held this position for many years with only a short break in 1983-1985 when she was Editor of the newsletter.
Helen was an outstanding and tireless fundraiser. She organized annual garage sales which she held at her home. Her garage sales added thousands of dollars to the Treasury. For several years she recruited members to man a booth during Conejo Valley Days and had a sales table at the annual Craft-O-Rama which was sponsored by the Conejo Valley Historical Society. In addition, Helen always had a sales table at each Society meeting featuring items of interest to genealogists, as well as clever things she found. In 2000, Helen became Director of Hospitality and held that position until she moved out of the area in 2001.
In 1993, Helen was awarded an Honorary Life Membership in recognition of her outstanding and tireless service to the Society. Helen’s love of genealogy and CVGS is evidenced by her generous bequest to the Society which funds an annual Memorial Life Membership for those members who have performed outstanding service to the Society.
