One of Your Favorite or Unique Family Heirlooms and/or Something Unique about Your Ancestral Town

It’s summertime once again and it’s time for some more fun! We had such a delightful time last year that we are going to do it again.  Zoom worked out very well!  You’re all encouraged to show one of your favorite family heirlooms to share with your fellow members.  This might be a pocket watch, special photo, quilt, hat, tablecloth, chair (remember Dick Harmon’s combination child rocker/potty chair or Jeri Miller’s spinning-wheel chair?), artwork, brooch, or clock.  Maybe you have a unique item or tool from your family ancestor you would like to show off.  If it’s somewhat large or possibly difficult to carry, all you need to do is have a couple of photos that you can copy and send to Bob Hazard.  He will develop the visual program for the event.

We are also providing you with the opportunity to share something unique about one of your ancestral towns.  Maybe you have a postcard photo of the town well where your grandparents drew their water or maybe a president or famous person stayed there.  We would like to hear your story!

To your descendants:
“Heirlooms without stories are just stuff!”
Jacquie Schattner

When your photo page appears on the screen during the program, you can tell us something about your special item.  Stories are what makes it special.  In preparation, we will even have a talented member available to coach you via phone if you need it.

Please email Bob Hazard at ra_hazard@att.net and CVGSResearch@gmail.com by July 14 with your name, item description, and something about your treasure so we can develop the slides accordingly.  Items will be shared on a first come, first served basis.

But wait, there’s more! We’re also going to have an ice cream social party. If you like, you can make yourself an ice cream cone or dish to enjoy at your computer as you view the treasures on your screen. You do not have to show an heirloom if you do not wish to but please come to enjoy the items, and their stories!  We will limit the heirloom explanations to 3 minutes.

If you are not a member and would like to attend, please email CVGSEvents20@gmail.com.
